Almost all of us have been inundated with too much junk mail. You open up your mailbox, thinking hopefully that you will get something cool like big checks with lots of money or maybe a friend will send you a birthday card…And what do you get to your dismay? Nothing but junk mail!
There are a few different types of junk mail. I classify them into these three categories most of the time:
1. Offers From Credit Card Companies: It never ceases to amaze me how many credit card offers I get. Sometimes I even get credit card offers from companies I already have credit cards with.
2.Cable Offers: Verizon and Comcast send me mail every single day. I have had both Comcast and now Verizon…again, like the credit card companies, I wonder do they even bother to check that they are not wasting tons of money and paper on their existing customers? (I have a lot of gripes about both companies- that could be a whole future post!)
3. Annoying newspaper/magazine type of ads: These aren’t newspapers or magazines, but they look like one. They’re basically just a giant book of advertisements. I have found these types of junk mail are good for starting campfires, but that’s about it.
There’s really no way I could find to stop junk mail on the US Post Office website, well,
This person has such a great idea though: Dear BulkMailer.
And while it probably won’t stop the junk mail, well, at least you can have some fun with it
That is a great way to at least mess with the people who constantly send you junk mail. I’ve found you cant make it stop.
You know, I could accept spamming and junk mail as necessary evils in this age of information technology, but what really annoys me most is that the ones perpetuating the life cycle of useless content are friends who have a tendency to pass them along. So much could be stopped with an exercise of restraint. Perhaps you can reminder your readers.
Imagine how many trees we could save by NOT getting this junk.
At least I dump them straight into the recycling bin.
Think green people…

This sounds like a great idea! I don’t think I’d go to the trouble of getting a box and a brick. I’ll just send whatever junkmail I receive that day. It will cost them to have someone get the mail and go through it!
There is a place you can write to that will help reduce your junk mail. It supposedly works like the do not call list, except for unsolicited mail. Granted, the DNC list doesn’t work all the time, but I think anything will help reduce the amount of junk mail you get send to your home.

Whatever mastermind thought of this should be put in front of congress and given the opportunity to determine the punishment of AIG!
Brilliant

Hilarious. I liked the FAQ a lot! And, about junk magazines: when they are printed on glossy paper and with a lot of color photos they are no good even to start a fire: they take forever to be lighted and then make a single flame that lasts nothing!

Same here in Germany. I just send it back to sender.
One way to show how to get our own back!
Will probably work with the greedier firms to -a heavier package will probably package will probably make them think that its their lucky day!
Even in my country this already a reality, the junk mail is everywhere and nothing seems to stop them. The problem with the anti-spam filters is that sometimes, really important mails are blocked by them, so i have to review one by one.
Hahah, this got a good laugh out of me. Time to for payback to all those credit card companies that spam me with free credit card offers… Always a pleasure to read the articles on your site

Junk mail is inevitable. Somebody is doing it because that’s their job…to send junk mails hehehe…and they’re earning from it. So, I just take it as it is…after all, I can help our garbage collector earn some bucks from the junks that gave to him regularly
[...] is a federal offense. Don’t go there! Though it would be a good day to deal with all that junk mail you’ve been [...]
We found a way to deal with the junk mail that works great. We load up all of the reply envelopes with assorted mail and send them back to them. That way they have to pay to receive my trash, they can recycle it and we keep the postal workers busy.
