One of my biggest pet peeves when eating out is ordering coffee and then the waitress never coming back to bring more. I’m not a huge coffee drinker, but when I want coffee, I want coffee and I WANT IT RIGHT NOW.
I saw this coffee mug today on WickedCoolStuff.com and thought it might just be the thing I’ve been waiting for:
I’ve paid my dues to the food industry and know exactly what it’s like to be a waitress. I would have strangled a customer if they rang a bell anytime they wanted more coffee. But then since I know what it’s like on that side, I expect my coffee to be filled. It’s not hard to make sure your customers always have coffee, even when you’re all by yourself in a packed section with 20 tables. Most people are sympathetic towards a waitress if you’re getting slammed – as long as their coffee is filled and hot.
It might not be practical or useful…but it is pretty funny. All I need now is a good coffee maker. If you want one, you can get it at WickedCoolStuff.com.
What do you think? Do you wish you had one of these? Or better yet, share with me your worst food service nightmare stories

Another things that works well is to leave a padded money clip on the table.

Yeah, that might just be a *tiny* bit more effective
I’ve had my share of bad customers while I worked at IHop for a few years — (4). I tip well, damn well when they are obviously trying, even if they aren’t doing a good job. No real nightmares except we had these people come in and wanting their 20 top to be served at once ASAP. After harassing the female waitresses they ask me to take over. As I did the younger guy kept saying “Where my food be at” three or four times. I finally said, relax it will be here shortly.
All hell broke loose, they told me to tell his grandmother that her grandson needed to relax, so I did. The grandmother wanted nothing to do with this, I almost came down to a fist fight between them and me.
After I was told to “pay my dues” and learn how to work hard I let them know that I served as an Airborne Infantrymen for the 82nd for 3 years and now am disabled I was told by them to “Go back to Iraq”.
I just walked in the back and let someone else (the manager) deal with them.
Good grief Defilar! Some people are really selfish!
that is the most rude fucked up thing If someone would do that in my cafe I would ignore them or teel them to leave you can get coffee if you can behave yourself and be polite
I like the look of that. Can just imagine having a sleep in and then ringing that bell for my fiance to bring me up a nice cup of tea – pretty sure the novelty would soon wear off for her but I would certainly enjoy it while I could.
