It’s Sad That You Need a Sign Like This

Files under Stupidity Sightings | Posted by Chelle

We went camping this weekend, which was lots of fun - it was the first time in my life we ever went camping WITHOUT mosquitoes! We didn’t miss them at all!

I was at the beach and playground with the kiddos by the lake when I noticed this sign here:

It made me laugh, but also kind of worried that they would NEED a sign that tells people not to go hunting on a playground!

I live in a verdant suburb that houses a respectable variety of wildlife, including deer that occasionally dash in front of cars and regularly nibble people’s gardens. The city has contemplated a number of ways to control the deer population, the latest of which is being debated now: allowing sharpshooting and bow hunting.

    Say what?

You want to allow shooting in my neighborhood? Are they crazy?

Every time I go camping with my family I saw a lot of mosquitoes. Glad you don’t see there. That is kinda nice place to camping. But the sign that you saw is really weird..

That is too funny. People are so afraid of lawsuits these days. That is why 90% of signs like this get made.

We’ve started camping when our kids where young. There grown and married now and we still camp but in a comfortable RV where we can get away from the mosquitoes. I love the sign. I’m sure we’ve seen some funny ones also. I’ll start taking pictures like you do.

    Thanks!

Thanks for all the comments everyone!

It was nice with no mosquitos - no, it’s not winter, but it was chilly - actually I think the park we stayed at sprayed for them…if only everyone would do that!

I guess it is better to be safe and have a sign just to make sure no one goes hunting on a playground!

it’s pretty cool that you respond to comments. :)

glad to hear there were no mosquitoes. unfortunately here, in this tropical country, they tend to somewhat be the bane of our existence. especially for kids.

That’s funny. But what about Alaska and their state troopers? Do they have signs that say, “Do Not Taser the Kids”?
