We saw this one while out driving today and thought it was kind of funny:

I don’t know too many people who could push a dump truck, do you? This one probably weighs between 15,000 and 30,000 lbs.
I’m sure there is a logical explanation what this really mean that a dump truck driver could explain to me, but out of context and with no understanding of dump trucks it makes you wonder who in the world would want to try to push a dump truck…and if you did try to push it, what would happen?

i don’t think they mean it as letterally , i think they mean it as a figure of speech like
“don’t push me or else ” ” don’t make me mad”
perhaps something like that .. i don’t know ,

Actually it is an instruction to the bigger trucks behind it not to attempt to push it out of the way - dump trucks can spill their load if this is done.

I like that double meaning ameo.
I knew somebody would enlighten me to the actual meaning of it Connor
Thanks!

Well, nobody in this world can push a dump truck or nobody will dare try it. Maybe it is too dangerous that’s why they put a sign “Do nut Push”

Worlds strongest man could. Maybe it used to belong to him and his wife got bored of him blowing his back out.

I wouldn’t dare to push it/him even without this message

I believe it’s written as a joke. It’s not likely that anyone would attempt to do it, and that’s what makes it funny.

perhaps one of the truck drivers had a little too much free time on his hands?
i mean, i have no idea how that can be serious.

I have seen that warning on many dump trucks and always wondered myself. I did some research and Connor is right.

I assumed it was sort of a redundant warning: “You’re not going to be able to push me anyway, so don’t bother trying!”

I wouldn’t try to push that big dump truck. And I think you are crazy if you do that.

Like Connor said, it is a warning to other trucks not to push on it with their bumper or the load might dump. And also, to Superman

Never seen that before but guess it is a reference to the opening at the back of the lorry spilling the load if it is pushed. Although it does sound a little stupid.

I guess that’s because you are so humoristic that you can relate the sign to the superman. And it’s quite funny. If I was the one who saw “don’t push” ,I wouldn’t pay attention at all.

I’ve seen that many times and never thought of it as humorous until now. Never gave it a second thought. The warning is actually for backhoe drivers. sometimes in the rock plant the backhoe drivers will push on the gates to try to close them or move the truck. It bends the gate.
