Please Hold…

Yesterday I spent about a half an hour on hold on the phone.

You know how anytime you call someplace they say “This call will be monitored and recorded?”

What would they do if YOU told them you were monitoring and recording the call?

“I just wanted to let you know this call will be monitored and recorded for training purposes. See, we have kids and no doubt someday you’ll screw them over and we want to have this documented so we can teach them how to fight with you over the phone.”

My second pet peeve about waiting on hold on the phone is the automated menus. It wastes an awful lot of time.

Is there really any need for them to say “Please listen carefully as we recently changed our menu options”?

Do people really memorize their menu options? Do you really have a need to call any company so much that you’re storing useless information in your head like “Press 1 Before They Tell You What it is! Press 1! Quick! Before she tells you who Option 1 is for!” ?

What do you think about these kind of calls?

OMG! The time I’ve wasted on those kind of calls. I usually end up yelling in to the phone, “Let me talk to a human DAMNIT!”

I am the same, I am with Vodafone as my mobile phone provider here in Australia, and they have this wonderful system called “L.a.r.a.” (I believe it is actually an acronym for something).

Anyhoo you actually have to speak to the system and it does voice recognition. This is *great* if you want something like “billing” but throw something in that is completely non standard such as “wireless internet dropping out” and it does not understand *sigh*.

Now I just go straight to billing and use them as my reception desk to get to the right area LOL.

    So I feel your pain.

Some companies here have those automated messages where you have to speak. I always say first thing “I want to talk to a person” or “operator” - some of them actually understand it, lol.

I called my ISP provider yesterday regarding my internet connection problems.. at first it is still okay, my all system stuff like that it say wait for their staff to answer and I can heard my ringing tone.. But the annoying thing was when it suddenly stop ringing because no one to answer it? So I start again and increase my phone bill because this is not toll free.

I hope this system will change. Automated menus, waiting for so long, sales talk while you wait, and so on. I hate it. It is not showing good care for the customre.
